Gallia, Jackson, Meigs Suicide Prevention Collaborative

In Ohio, nearly five people die by suicide each day. Over a 10-year period (2008-2017) Gallia, Jackson, and Meigs Counties ranked in the top ten as highest counties at risk of suicide in Ohio. Where 9 out of 10 counties are in Appalachia.

The average annual rates of suicide per 100,000 in each county were:

1. Meigs County: 21.46
2. Jackson Couty: 19.86
3. Gallia County 17.78

All three counties have come together to collaborate in education, advocacy, support, and prevention with respect for the unique qualities and strengths of these Appalachian communities.

Our mission is to prevent suicide through awareness, education, collaboration, support, improved access to mental health care and community resources.
